“Gantimpala Theater Traditions continues with 36th Theater Season Auditions”
After the successful recital production of “Ang Kinang ng Kahlim”, a product of Gantimpala Theater’s prestigious annual workshop, staged at the Santa Isabel Auditorium this May, Mr. Jun F. Flavier Pablo, Gantimpala’s Chairman and President, announced its 36th Theater Season Auditions.
“Ang Kinang ni Kahlim” tells the story of primary colors Black, Yellow, White, Red and Blue who was appointed by Angel Michael (Alvin Duckert) the archangel in heaven together with his assistant Miguelito (Aljonas Ponio) to creatively color the world which they call Paradise.
Kahlim (Macson Anthony Macaraig) wasn’t able to fulfill the task because of his low self confidence and confusion with regard to his task.
Liraw Bughaw (Ayana Beatrice Poblete) encouraged him while the other colors Pao-pao Dilaw (Jayson Carl Santos), Wanda Pula (Andrea Mariana De Leon) and Lotti Puti (Kristel Rose Alcazar) were bullies because they thought that Kahlim’s color connote darkness and unattractiveness.

Three theater stalwarts are presented in “Triple Threats: Leading Men and Women of Philippine Musical Theater” , a series of solo concerts featuring the theater greats of Philippine Musical Theater. Each concert is an intimate evening of beautiful music, personally selected by the artists themselves, from their vast repertoire of favorite songs from Broadway, West End, original Filipino musicals and the movies. Dubbed as a series of “concept concerts,” the narrative of the performance is dictated by the song choices. A rare opportunity for audiences to see a different facet of the acclaimed theater, television and film artist being featured. The definition of a “triple threat” is someone in a particular field who exhibits three skills that are necessary to excel. In this case, these “Triple Threats” — Nonie Buencamino, Audie Gemora and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo — can sing, act and dance. Buencamino is set to perform on June 13, Gemora on July 5 and Yulo on August 15 at CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino.
